Hey HN, nextbike.lol is an exploratory project that scrapes and visualizes data from the biggest European rental bike provider, Nextbike.
Right now, it is capable of collecting all bike positions over time and their corresponding places and cities. It also collects the zones in which bikes can be parked.
When clicking on a bike, you can see how it has moved across the map over time and which stations it was left at.
Sadly (or luckily), you can only get the position of a bike when it's parked. Having live data on the movement of rented bikes would be fun, but also a privacy nightmare ...

when is the position updated? Only when a bike is "released" or also when in use?
